RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING <br /> BOB NUTTER <br /> WHEREAS, Robert "Bob" Nutter is a fifth generation farmer; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Nutters moved from Maine to North Carolina in 1963 to start a farm in Orange <br /> County; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Maple View Milk Company, started by the Nutters in 1996, was one of the first <br /> contemporary farm-to-consumer milk bottling businesses in North Carolina; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Maple View Ice Cream is the pride of North Carolina and has received national <br /> recognition; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Nutter family, led by Bob Nutter, has served an important role in environmental <br /> preservation as a pioneer for land conservation; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Nutter family has provided strong support for public education including the <br /> "Dictionary Program"which has provided dictionaries to third-graders in the Orange <br /> County Schools since 2004; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Bob Nutter has been honored by the Orange-Durham Cattlemen's Association with <br /> its Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in the North Carolina cattle industry; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that, the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> recognizes Bob Nutter for his outstanding service to the people of Orange County, <br /> innovation in farming techniques, and commitment to the agricultural community <br /> here and across the State of North Carolina. <br /> This the 5th day of February 2008. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> Bob Nutter said that he is thankful that he moved to Orange County and Orange County <br /> has been good to him. <br /> c. Resolution in Support of Continuation of JCPC Funding <br /> The Board considered approving a resolution demonstrating support of continuation <br /> funding for the Orange/Chatham Juvenile Crime Prevention Council and authorizing the Chair to <br /> sign. <br /> Commissioner Gordon read the resolution. <br />
