Program Updates: <br />Veterans' Services <br />• The Veterans' Services Office has been relocated to the first floor of Richard E. <br />Whitted Human Services Building in Hillsborough, and is now co-located with other <br />assistance programs. <br />• The Veterans' Services Office has been incorporated into the community services <br />division of the agency with plans to raise community awareness of veterans' issues <br />and available benefits <br />4. The All Family Participation rate increased by more <br />than 20°~ after program implementation. <br />Helping Foster Children Became Successful Adults <br />• Studies have documented that the outlook for children who age out of foster care is <br />grim. They are much more likely to: <br />• Lack a high school diploma <br />• Be unemployed <br />• Become homeless <br />• Experience mental illness <br />• Be incarcerated <br />• Experience drug addiction <br />• Experience early parenthood <br />• In an effort to provide better outcomes for these children, the Orange County DSS <br />utilized two new initiatives in 2Q06-Q7 <br />
