- 71 <br /> _ - R T <br /> pRANGE COUNTIE BOARD OF C(?MMISSIONERS <br /> a RESOI.UTION AFFIRMING A PROCESS FOR RESOLYtNG THE � <br /> � DISPOSITION OF THE REMAINING 109 ACRES�F THE�GREENE TRACT- �. <br /> WHEREAS, Orange Courrty and ii�e Towns af Can�baro and Ghapel Hiil acquired � . <br /> the 169 acre property known as the Green�Tract in 19$4 as an asset af the jairrt. <br /> solid wasfe management system; and <br /> WHEREAS,title to 60 acres af this property was deeded exclusively to Orange <br /> County in 2000 under provisions of the 1999 irrteriacal °Agreement for Said � <br /> Waste ManagemenY'; and � <br /> WHEREAS, under the same interlocal agreement the County ar►d Towns agreed <br /> ta bargain in goad faith during the two year period following the effective date of <br /> the agreement to determine the ultimate use or dispasition of the remaining 1 Q9 <br /> - aq-es af the Greene Tract; and <br /> WHEREAS,the end date of the"bargaining period"as defined in the agreement <br /> is April 17,2002�the secand anniversary of the date upon which the County <br /> assumed overatl responsibiiity for sotid waste management in Clrange County; <br /> NOW,THERE�ORE. BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Orange County Board of <br /> Commissioners does hereby affirm the general intended uses of the Greene <br /> Tract to indude open space, affardabfe housing, school srbes, non�solid <br /> waste public purposes (note:BOCC to identify whfch of these uses ara <br /> �inciuded in fhe appr�ved resalution); and, <br /> BE IT FURTHER RES�L1fED THAT the Orange County Board of <br /> Commissioners does hereby affirm the following points as the process to be . ' � <br /> � pursued join�y with the Towns of Carrboro and Chapel Hill to resolve the - � <br /> � disposi�on of the remaining-1 Q9 acres of the Greene 7ract: <br /> • All three goveming boards adopt a fonnal resolu�on affinning the general <br /> proposad uses of the property - <br /> • Jointiy appoiryt a working group camprised of two elected o�cials from each <br /> � of the three enti�ies � <br /> • Esch Manager assigns specfic staff to support#he work group in planning <br /> dirf�erent vptions� consistent with the general direction from the three <br /> gaveming boards ' <br /> • Hold a public forum on the general uses affirmed by the fihree goveming <br /> baards during the eariy part of the process <br /> � � Consider the use of consultants to assist in developing a realistic site anafysis <br /> and preliminary land use plan <br />
