. .sb <br /> 2 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> RESOLUTION INDICATING THAT THE SOUTHERN HUMAN SERVICES'SITE <br /> IS NOT AN OPTION FOR IFC FACILITY DEVELOPMENT <br /> WHEREAS, on November 29, 1999 the Interfaith Council (IFC) requested that the County <br /> express their interest in providing land at the Southern Human Services Center(SHSC)site <br /> upon which to locate an IFC facility; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County has purchased 34 acres of land on Homestead Road, Chapel Hill to <br /> accommodate the long term growth of County services for citizens in the southern part of the <br /> county; and <br /> WHEREAS, future services needs for county functions have been identified to fill the available <br /> building sites on the property; and <br /> WHEREAS, long-term lease and/or sale of the land could jeopardize the County's ability to <br /> adequately address future facility needs in southern Orange County; and <br /> WHEREAS, IFC clients rely heavily on public transportation and since public transportation to <br /> the Homestead site continues to present dally challenges; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County supports the efforts of IFC to provide services to the homeless in our <br /> community and is willing to support IFC's efforts to develop relocation plans that best meet <br /> transportation and support services needs; <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the land at the Homestead Road site should not <br /> be considered as a potential site for the IFC facility development. <br /> This, the 181'day of January, 2000. <br /> Chair <br /> Moses Carey <br /> Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> (seal) <br />
