Article 6: Development Standards <br />Section 6.11: Outdoor Lighting <br />building area or an increase in parking on property_ Qj_T., _)1han__ 5_%_()1 _the ex _tj_n <br />k�umaiiillQ iii ¢ : luai2 it gj t inc r�ase.5 <br />i <br />Q „(IIL, Mln the event of a conflict between the outdoor lighting standards contained herein and any <br />other section of this Ordinance, the more stringent requirement shall apply. <br />6.11.3 Exemptions <br />The following are exempt from the provisions of the outdoor lighting standards contained herein, <br />but shall be implemented in a manner consistent with the overall purpose and intent of this <br />Section: <br />(A) Single- family and duplex residential development on individual lots with the exception of <br />tu.a�l��iur�stall �a p �1���tl��ll vapor luminaries, iii�� llu.aiQ�iii�¢� �1���ir� uaiiry �li�Q1 ���Q�iivai�l� �±���[22L <br />e installation o ��iw <br />which � 2irg rohibited. <br />(B) All outdoor lighting lawfully installed prior to the effective date of the outdoor lighting <br />standards contained herein, except the replacement of mercury ,a ir,_4 a Q iiu „ai,1,L vapor <br />ry- ode u r vapor luminaires, X 1 1 1 I 3k4 41 Ay � saiQl�aiw s <br />luminaires. Mercu and <br />7must be replaced in conformity with the Outdoor Lighting Standards upon the earlier <br />occurrence of the replacement of the fixture or the lamp. <br />(C) Any outdoor lighting, including mercury vapor, used for an individual single - family <br />residence, where the residence is constructed as of the effective date of the outdoor <br />lighting standards contained herein. <br />(D) Bona fide agricultural uses. <br />(E) Traffic control signals and devices. <br />(F) Temporary emergency lighting (i.e. fire, police, repair workers, highway maintenance and <br />construction, etc.). <br />(G) Moving vehicle lights. <br />(H) Navigation lights (i.e. airports, heliports, radio /television towers, communication towers, <br />etc.)_ 1 irl��luaiiiir Q Ikl II X111 ` fl tl�� i �Ql IF ��Ql��ir 11 ��ge!]l ue l_fgir Lu.ail !�l i�c uaiirp <br />(1) Ill lk it ltl iry Ilu¢ Ir�tlui ¢ it �� i ��lll and R tc)l i y_Ir1a�Iliija a�lk� ���ir�+�li�� � � Q1� �����tln����� using <br />typical unshielded low- wattage iin(.a�n4i4 e 1- lights, which are in place no longer than 60 <br />days_t j tliii Ql_i 111 it tllrl i � � Ilu.ailll i 4 . $ <br />jg <br />(J) Security lights that are controlled by a motion - sensor switch, which do not remain on <br />longer g than 12 minutes after activation, and do not exceed 11;0- w- ��#; -(� . ?, &.)0- 4-00 lumens) <br />(K) Roadway lighting, installed as of the effective date of the outdoor lighting standards, as <br />contained herein, within State maintained rights -of -way provided that the standards of <br />Sections 6.11.5(B)(2)(h) and 6.11.6(H) are met, except for mercury vapor luminaires. <br />Mercury vapor luminaires used for roadway lighting must be replaced in conformity with <br />' As recommended at the September 5, 2012 Ordinance Review Committee (ORC) meeting <br />6 At the ORC meeting of the Planning Board on September 5, 2012 members suggested expanding the prohibition. <br />Mr. Hallenbeck suggested there is virtually no difference between a sodium vapor or mercury vapor with respect to <br />the generated light.
