11 <br /> Support of Subscription Services via Website <br /> This added service allows the public to sign up for distributions lists in a number of interest areas, and <br /> the service is integrated into the County website. <br /> Streaming Videos of BOCC Meetings <br /> In providing live and archival video of BOCC meetings, OCIT is supporting new servers, monitoring the <br /> process and serving as technical liaison with the vendor in troubleshooting and support of this <br /> additional service. <br /> Public Wireless Hot Spots <br /> The County IT Department deployed and manages hotspots for public wireless access in all major <br /> County facilities. <br /> Centralized County Website (Management/Support) <br /> Prior to 2006, website management was performed ad hoc, and distributed across all departments. <br /> The Orange County IT Department has deployed a centralized template and standard toolset to <br /> ensure all website authoring be consistent and professional. <br /> National Map Standards Compliance <br /> In 2009, IT undertook an activity to bring county map data in line with several federal and state <br /> standards. In doing so, the County gained significant synergies with data sharing, but it requires <br /> resources to perform the initial conversion and to support the ongoing maintenance of this data as <br /> part of this additional service. <br /> GIS Data Synchronization <br /> In 2009, OCIT implemented real time synchronization of GIS database between Orange County GIS, <br /> Chapel Hill GIS and Carrboro GIS (OC currently provides this service for Hillsborough) for all streets <br /> and addresses, greatly increasing levels of timeliness & accuracy for addressing data, while ensuring <br /> more reliable and effective collaboration between our important municipal partners. <br /> BOCC Meeting Support <br /> IT is now providing pre-meeting setup support for all BOCC meetings, including A/V equipment setup, <br /> public network availability, streaming video services and any other items that arise in preparation for <br /> the meetings. <br /> Online Pet Registration <br /> The IT Department deployed a new Internet based tool with which the public can register their pets. <br /> Online Recreation Registration <br /> The IT Department provides a web-based service for the public to sign up for parks and recreation <br /> classes, team sports and recreational facilities. <br /> 9 <br />
