Change in Board of County Commissioners Regular Meeting Schedule <br />st <br /> <br />The Board considered changing the purpose of its January 31 meeting from Assembly <br />thth <br />of Governments to a work session, and changing the date of its February 6 meeting to February 7. <br /> Commissioner Brown asked a clarifying question, which was answered satisfactorily by <br />John Link. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Brown, seconded by Commissioner Jacobs to <br />approve the change in the Board of County Commissioners' regular meeting schedule as presented. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> <br /> g. Resolution to apply for and enter into Agreement with N.C. Department of <br />Transportation for Community Transportation Program (CTP) Grant Funds <br /> The Board considered an annual resolution to apply for Community Transportation <br />Program funds for capital and administrative assistance and considered an agreement with the N.C. <br />Department of Transportation for fiscal year 2001-2002. <br />th <br /> Commissioner Jacobs made reference to the public hearing that was held on January 11 <br />at the Whitted Center. He asked if anyone ever attends these public hearings and if a midday public <br />hearing at the Whitted Center is appropriate. Also, he made reference to the memo on page 13 and <br />asked that the memo be rewritten. <br /> Department on Aging Director Jerry Passmore said that the public hearing was held on <br />th <br />the 11 (while the Commissioners were out of session) because of the tight timeframe of the <br />application deadline. He will rewrite the memo on page 13. <br /> A motion was made by Chair Halkiotis, seconded by Commissioner Jacobs to approve <br />the submission of the FY 2001-2002 application for NCDOT Community Transportation Program <br />funds and authorize the Chair to sign the Annual Resolution statement and Special Section 5333 (b) <br />Warranty, which is incorporated herein by reference. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> <br /> h. Elder Mistreatment Coalition Education Funds <br /> The Board considered accepting a grant in the amount of $5,000 on behalf of the Orange <br />County Elder Mistreatment Coalition. <br /> Commissioner Jacobs pointed out that this group of individuals work very diligently to <br />bring attention to some of the same kind of problems that a number of advisory boards have brought <br />to the Board's attention. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Brown to <br />accept a grant in the amount of $5,000 on behalf of the Orange County Elder Mistreatment Coalition. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> <br /> j. Public Housing Agency (PHA) Plan – Section 8 Existing Housing Program <br /> The Board considered approving the submission of the five-year public housing plan and <br />annual plan for the Orange County Housing Authority. <br /> Commissioner Gordon made reference to page three (on the top) and asked if this is a <br />template that HUD provides and Tara Fikes said that it was a template.
