<br />The blue sheet is a resolution recognizing the Cable TV Advisory Committee volunteers <br />for long and outstanding service. <br />The pink and white sheets are revisions to item 9-a. <br />Resolution recognizing Cable TV Advisory Committee Volunteers <br />Assistant County Manager Gwen Harvey said that she has worked on behalf of the <br />community with the Cable TV Advisory Community. She recognized the people in attendance - <br />Bob Gwynn, Michael Patrick, Sharlene Pilkey, Fred Brawn, and Bill Boyarsky. <br />She gave same history of the franchise renewal agreement that was pursued by this <br />committee. <br />Chair Carey read the resolution and said that a copy would be sent to all members. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Gordon to <br />approve the resolution as stated below: <br />CABLE TV ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br />VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION <br />WHEREAS, the Cable TV Citizens Advisory Committee was formed in December 1979 to <br />recommend priorities for service options and customer standards to be considered <br />in granting a cable TV franchise; and <br />WHEREAS, Bob Gywnn, Michael Patrick, Sharlene Pilkey, Fred Brown and Bill Boyarsky <br />served as citizen volunteers providing technical guidance and leadership to effectively meet the <br />goals and objectives of the committee; and <br />WHEREAS, throughout the difficult years, as names changed with the cable companies and the <br />officials representing those companies, the committee members persevered to <br />negotiate and position the best possible service for the people of Orange County <br />as identified by the Board of Commissioners; and, <br />WHEREAS, volunteers are an invaluable asset to Orange County departments and agencies <br />and their service contributes to the cast effectiveness and efficiency of <br />government operations; and, <br />WHEREAS, the involvement of volunteers such as Mr. Gywnn, Mr. Patrick, Ms. Pilkey, Mr. <br />Brown and Mr. Boyarsky have strengthened and reinforced the democratic <br />process by contributing their time to help address community challenges such as <br />faced within the rapidly changing telecommunications industry, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, let it be resolved that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />recognizes and sincerely thanks Bob Gywnn, Michael Patrick, Sharlene Pilkey, <br />Fred Brown and Bill Boyarsky for their community spirit, dedicated service, and <br />unrelenting commitment to the residents of Orange County by serving on and <br />leading the Cable TV Advisory Committee. <br />This the 27th day of March 2Q07. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />
