<br />Bureau and authorizing the Chair to sign contingent upon final review by staff and the County <br />Attorney. <br />Commissioner Gordon made reference to the Financial Impact of $50,000 and asked for <br />verification that this come out of revenues that the Visitor's Bureau already has. It was <br />answered yes. <br />Commissioner Gordon said that this is a great idea and Orange County government <br />should be doing something similar, as part of a county strategic communications plan. Laura <br />Blackmon said that the staff does have a strategic communications plan in the works. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner Foushee to <br />approve awarding a Request for Proposals {RFP) award for providing Marketing, Advertising <br />and On-line Web Strategies for the Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Bureau and authorize <br />the Chair to sign contingent upon final review by staff and the County Attorney. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />h. Homestead Road Campus Concept Plan <br />The Board considered approving the attached map as the Concept Plan for the <br />Homestead Road Campus. <br />Cammissianer Jacobs said that he wanted to make sure that wording was added in the <br />last paragraph of the first page, as follows: "In order to accommodate long-term space <br />requirements for the County, it is recommended that the house be removed, with minima! harm <br />to the existing mature hardwoods, thereby allowing a more efficient use of the land." <br />Laura Blackmon said that they have looked at this site and the house would not be able <br />to be removed in whole without cutting down trees. Purchasing and Central Services Director <br />Pam Jones has been discussing deconstruction with same individuals in this business. <br />Commissioner Jacobs said that he still wants to state, "with minimal harm to the existing <br />mature hardwoods." <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Nelson to <br />adopt the Homestead Road Concept Plan as stated above, with the modification as stated <br />above, and to direct staff to move forward with a plan to remove/deconstruct the house. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />L Gateway Building Unit 200 and Unit 300 <br />The Board considered approving {1) a lease with option to purchase for approximately <br />22,846 square feet of space in Unit 200 and Unit 300 of the Gateway Center Condominium, <br />Hillsborough; and {2) approving the Condominium Declaration for the Gateway Center <br />Condominium and authorizing the Chair, Clerk, County Manager, Finance Director, Purchasing <br />Director, and the County Attorney to execute the appropriate paperwork. <br />Commissioner Gordon verified with Pam Jones that the overall amount far this project, <br />including the rest of the County campus is $23.5 million. She thinks that the debt issuance <br />schedule said $25 million. Pam Jones said that some of the debt issuance would be for the <br />upfit for vacated space, and there was also discussion about adding some additional <br />sustainable design elements. <br />Commissioner Gordon asked if this includes the approximate $500,000 far the lease and <br />Pam Janes said that it does not. <br />Cammissianer Gordon asked who owns the land underneath the building and if any <br />contamination is found there who would be responsible. Pam Jones said that under the <br />Gateway Building the County will own the land in condominium with Weaver Street Market. <br />There was a soil assessment and it was clean. The same is true on the Southern States <br />
