<br />that the residents are looking for a full service branch library and one that offers the standard <br />public library hours, one that that is accessible, and one that has a deep and wide library <br />collection. She said that the Carrboro Library Work Group initially was looking to 6-7,000 <br />square feet, far less than what was given in the report. She said that it seems that this library <br />can be done in a store-front space of anywhere from 6-10,000 square feet. She said that the <br />Board of Aldermen support the County Commissioners' recommendation, in the expectation that <br />a new task force would be created with a completed report by March, and that the task force <br />would rededicate itself to expedite the efforts to bring a library to southwest Orange County. <br />Martha Tyson said that she is a resident of Chapel Hill and she has worked with others <br />far 20 years to establish afree-standing library for Carrboro. She said that the Chapel Hill <br />library is on its second expansion. She said that the 25,000 square feet that was mentioned <br />was taking into consideration possible expansion. She said that Holly Springs just dedicated a <br />new 20,000-square foot library and Pittsbora will do this in 2008. She said that she would like <br />some kind of indication from the County Commissioners as to what they are hoping to learn <br />from this new task force. <br />Chair Carey said that this would be incorporated in the charge of the task force. <br />e.
