<br />Commissioner Gordon asked about the compensatory actions. Tray Maness said that <br />there is 24-hour employee coverage to make sure that there are no fires. <br />Commissioner Gordon asked about the schedule of documents and Marty Clayton said <br />that he would follow upon this and let the Chair know what he can provide. <br />Commissioner Gordan said that the first resolution is a serious concern and the second <br />resolution is bringing an evacuation plan for the nuclear plant. <br />Chair Jacobs allowed Jim Warren to make another comment. Jim Warren said that he <br />would like to enter a letter into the record to the CEO of Progress Energy, Robert McGee. He <br />said that the NRG has allowed these plants to operate for years in violation by employing what <br />the NRC calls its "enforcement discretion". He said that this is the subject of the legal action <br />against the NRC. The letter cites five different documents, four of them from Progress Energy, <br />confirming that they intend to restore compliance. He rebutted the statement that Progress <br />Energy is in compliance. He said that if Progress Energy were in compliance, then millions of <br />dollars would not have to be spent to upgrade the standards. He gave the letter to the Clerk. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Halkiotis, seconded by Commissioner Faushee <br />to adopt both resolutions. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />Chair Jacobs said that he received a communication from the Mayor of Chapel Hill, <br />who said that Chapel Hill would be happy to take the lead in developing a public forum for the <br />citizens of Orange County regarding these issues. Mayor Chilton suggested that NCWARN and <br />Progress Energy be allowed to make a presentation. <br />Commissioner Foushee suggested a town hall meeting format and the Board agreed. <br />7. Special Presentations <br />a. Orange County Arts Grant Recipients <br />The Board presented checks to local artists and arts organizations receiving Spring, <br />2006 Orange County Arts Grants. <br />Geoffrey Hathaway said that these funds are through State grants and there is no <br />financial impact on Orange County. <br />Commissioner Halkiotis presented the checks. <br />A.L.
