Steve.-
The Visitors Bureau's success exists, in part, because of Carrboro's appeal to travelers. Regardless, of whether
Carrhorn has a hotel, it will always be a significant appeal and lure of travelers to the Piedmont,
Several years ago, we conducted a national travel survey to learn why travelers from across the U.S, visit Orange
County and why they comeback (we have an extremely high repeat travel rate). Namely it was the University,
f'oll'owed by visiting, friends and famfl'y, sports— both collegiate and high school and a mateu r—and' reasons we refer
toasSMERF, (Social, Military, Entertainment, Religious and Fraternal). Those are the weddings and church, and
familly reunions and gatherings of associations.
In terms of why people love the area, toafabditV, the gift to be oneself and a funky college vibe were descriptors
used often,
Carrboro, epitomizes our funky collegiate vibe. Carrboro has that loafability one usually finds in open spaces, such
as The Weave.
Our Bureau works with Carrboro, daily. Whether its 's with their economic development office, parks and recreation
director, film festival organizers, music festival organizers, Carrboro Citizen, the Weave, ArtsCenter, Farmer's
Markets, c l u b s; or special eve nts.
Carrboro is interwoven in everything we do; whether we call it Orange County, greater Chapel HiR or the Edge of
the Triangle. Whiether we directly support Carrboro specific festivals through their Parks and Recreation
Department that bring- in visitors; or commission a published Author to write a feature story on Carrboro. We
consider ourselves direct, external marketing arm for Carrboro,.
Carrboro restaurants, nightclubs, galleries and shops are the direct redphents of our efforts.
Attached is a list of projects we've partnered with Carrboro on just recently; or taken, the lead l' on, and a monetary
value that's easy for us to ascribe to these etforts.
Thank you.
