APPROVED 611 312 0 0 6 <br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />April 10, 2006 <br />7:30 p.m. <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, April 10, <br />2006 at 7:30 p.m. in the F. Gordon Battle Courtroom in Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Barry Jacobs and Commissioners Moses <br />Carey, Jr., Valerie P. Foushee, Alice M. Gordon, and Stephen Halkiotis, <br />COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: Geoffrey Gledhill <br />COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager John M. Link, Jr., Assistant County <br />Managers Rod Visser and Gwen Harvey, and Clerk to the Board Donna S. Baker (All other staff <br />members will be identified appropriately below} <br />NOTE: ALL DOCUMENTS REFERRED TO IN THESE MINUTES ARE IN THE PERMANENT <br />AGENDA FILE IN THE CLERK'S OFFICE. ALL RECORDINGS OF THE MEETING WILL BE <br />KEPT FOR 5 YEARS. <br />Commissioner Halkiotis said that Chair Jacobs asked him to start the meeting. <br />Commissioner Gordon and Chair Jacobs were attending another meeting and would be arriving <br />later. <br />1. Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br />Commissioner Halkiotis pointed out the additions and changes. There was a revised <br />item 9-e-1 (pink sheet). Item 9-e-3 was a new appointment to the Board of Adjustment (yellow <br />sheet). There was a yellow sheet with statistics on EMS calls for fires. The blue sheet was the <br />Orange County reservoir water supply levels. There was a revised abstract for item 9-c. <br />PUBLIC CHARGE <br />The Chair dispensed with the reading of the public charge. <br />2. Public Comments <br />a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br />William Reid thanked the Board of Commissioners for allowing him to speak and this is <br />his 80t" birthday. <br />Commissioner Gordon arrived at 7:35p.m. and Chair Jacobs arrived at 7:40 p.m. <br />William Reid said that he is concerned about our library and that it is not funded as other <br />libraries in the area. He would like the Board of County Commissioners to appoint a committee <br />to came up with recommendations. <br />Commissioner Halkiotis said that there was a Library Task Force and the Clerk's office <br />will send Mr. Reid a copy of their report. The County is in the process of upgrading the library <br />facilities, including the passibility of a new structure within walking distance of the current <br />facility. <br />
