Follow-up <br />- check in quarterly for 1 ~ year <br />- establish perfoi7nance criteria for 1 -2 months on the job <br />Jim Mercer stated it would take between 34 to 94 days to get a new manager on board <br />and working after the selection. <br />Chair Jacobs mentioned County Manager John Link would be leaving August 31. <br />The Clerk's Office will need to schedule summer calendars to coincide with the proposed <br />timeline. <br />Commissioner Halkiotis was not in favor of spending an entire day interviewing each <br />candidate. <br />Chair Jacobs suggested that NIr. Mercer meet with the Clerk, County Attorney, and <br />current Manager during phase I Data Collection. Also, he suggested that Mr. Mercer <br />should also meet with a focus group from the Employee Consortium. <br />Jim Mercer stated that public forums were not especially productive. <br />Commissioner Carey suggested for l~~r. Mercer to meet with the area 1~~layors and <br />Chambers. <br />Commissioner Halkiotis suggested using the Internet, newspaper ads, and public postings <br />to collect public input. <br />Commissioner Gordon suggested posing only one question to the public, "What are the <br />most important qualities in a manager?" <br />Commissioner Carey requested information on the tool used for interviet~~ing the Human <br />Resources Director. He said that this might be useful if modified for the manager search. <br />The Board agreed that public comments need to be submitted to the Clerk's office, either <br />by the Internet or by other methods no later than Nlay I5. <br />
