grassroots ombudsmen and advocate for the rights of residents, as well as the <br />physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of these residents, and <br />Whereas, Nursing Home and Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committees are trained <br />volunteers who collaborate closely with residents, family members, facility staff, <br />the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, the Orange County Department on <br />Aging, and regulatory agencies to ensure quality care in full recognition of <br />residents' dignity and individuality, and <br />Whereas, These Committees serve as the nucleus for increased community involvement with <br />long term care facilities and their residents, and <br />Whereas, The Committees promote community education and awareness of the needs of long <br />term care residents, and work toward keeping the public informed about aspects <br />of long term care, and <br />Whereas, The committees apprise themselves of the general conditions under which residents <br />are residing in the homes, and work far the best interests of these residents, <br />Now, Therefore, we, the Orange County Commissioners, do hereby proclaim April 26, <br />2006 <br />as <br />Community Advisory Committee Appreciation Day <br />And urge all residents to join with us in this observation. We further encourage all <br />residents to express appreciation for the advocacy efforts of the Nursing Home and <br />Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee members who represent the public <br />good for Orange County. <br />This the 10th day of April 2006. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Halkiotis, seconded by Commissioner Foushee to <br />approve a proclamation designating the day of April 26, 2006 as Community Advisory <br />Committee Appreciation Day in Orange County to show appreciation to the members of the <br />Orange County Nursing Home and Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committees for their <br />advocacy efforts on behalf of the County's long term care residents and authorize the Chair to <br />sign. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />e. Resolution To Recognize Orange Congregations in Mission for 25 Years of <br />Service to the Community <br />The Board considered a resolution recognizing Orange Congregations in Mission <br />(OCIM) for 25 years of service to the community and authorize the Chair to sign. <br />Leo Allison was present on behalf of OCIM and he said that during the past 25 years <br />they have provided for the neediest citizens of Orange County. They are proud to be partners <br />with the County and other agencies in the County and they are glad to continue this partnership <br />for years to came. On May 8t'' they will be celebrating this with an ecumenical service. <br />
