The Orange County Health Department, along with RENA, the UNC <br /> School of Public Health, and Engineers Without Borders, participated in a survey of <br /> wells and septic systems. There were forty-five (45) septic systems included in the <br /> survey, and twelve (12) were failing at that time. Of the twelve malfunctioning septic <br /> systems, seven (7) were further classified as maintenance-related failures, while five (5) <br /> 4 <br />
