I don't want to see it die. <br /> 59 <br /> 60 Peter Hallenbeck: I will do that. <br /> 61 <br /> 62 Larry Wright: Mark, I hate to see you go; you have contributed to this Board immensely <br /> 63 <br /> 64 AGENDA ITEM 5: PUBLIC CHARGE <br /> 65 <br /> 66 Introduction to the Public Charge <br /> 67 The Board of County Commissioners, under the authority of North Carolina General Statute, <br /> 68 appoints the Orange County Planning Board (OCPB) to uphold the written land development <br /> 69 laws of the County. The general purpose of OCPB is to guide and accomplish coordinated and <br /> 70 harmonious development. OCPB shall do so in a manner which considers the present and <br /> 71 future needs of its citizens and businesses through efficient and responsive process that <br /> 72 contributes to and promotes the health, safety, and welfare of the overall County. The OCPB <br /> 73 will make every effort to uphold a vision of responsive governance and quality public services <br /> 74 during our deliberations, decisions, and recommendations. <br /> 75 <br /> 76 PUBLIC CHARGE <br /> 77 The Planning Board pledges to the citizens of Orange County its respect. The Board asks its <br /> 78 citizens to conduct themselves in a respectful, courteous manner, both with the Board and with <br /> 79 fellow citizens. At any time, should any member of the Board or any citizen fail to observe this <br /> 80 public charge, the Chair will ask the offending member to leave the meeting until that individual <br /> 81 regains personal control. Should decorum fail to be restored, the Chair will recess the meeting <br /> 82 until such time that a genuine commitment to this public charge is observed. <br /> 83 <br /> 84 AGENDA ITEM 6: CHAIR COMMENTS <br /> 85 <br /> 86 Larry Wright: I would like to introduce our newest member, Dr. Dawn Brezina and our Vice-Chair, Pete Hallenbeck. I <br /> 87 will not permit my name to be considered for nomination for Chair next year. <br /> 88 <br /> 89 Larry Wright: I would like to stress the importance of attendance at the Quarterly Public Hearing. Is everyone <br /> 90 satisfied with the delivery of the agenda? This seems to be working well. I have also asked staff to send a current <br /> 91 list of the Planning Board members. <br /> 92 <br /> 93 AGENDA ITEM 7: Comprehensive Plan Future Land Use Map and Zoning Atlas Amendments-To make a <br /> 94 recommendation to the BOCC government-initiated amendments to the Comprehensive Plan <br /> 95 Future Land Use Map of approximately 493.5 acres in the vicinity of the Interstate 85/Us <br /> 96 Highway 70 interchange (in the vicinity of the Eno Economic Development District near the <br /> 97 eastern county line) and to change the zoning district of approximately 180± acres of <br /> 98 property in the same but limited general area. This item was heard at the May 29, 2012 <br /> 99 quarterly public hearing after being heard at the February 27,2012 quarterly public hearing. <br /> 100 Presenter: Craig Benedict, Planning Director <br /> 101 <br /> 102 Craig Benedict: Presented Eno Economic Development District(EDD)Area Land Use and Zoning Amendments. <br /> 103 <br /> 104 Larry Wright: On page 47, the handwritten letter, this person and a number of people were concerned about traffic. <br /> 105 One thing that comes to mind is that Commissioner Yuhaz said that things were going to change here which means <br /> 106 traffic will change.
