Commissioner Carey asked if the resolution to the different water ordinances has been <br />fixed yet and Chair Jacobs said that this is one of the six issues identified to discuss. <br />Commissioner Gordon said that the Board approved a Water Resources initiative last <br />spring and were not able to fund it at that time. She thinks that this meeting could highlight the <br />need in Orange County to implement this initiative. One of the three parts of the Water <br />Resources Initiative addresses extreme conditions like droughts and floods. <br />6. Resolutions or Proclamations <br />a. Resolution To Recognize Sheriff Lindy Pendergrass far Expenditure <br />Reductions Through Alternative Funding <br />The Board was to consider a resolution recognizing Sheriff Lindy Pendergrass and the <br />Orange County Sheriff's Department far implementing significant improvements in County law <br />enforcement services without increasing costs to County taxpayers and authorize the Chair to <br />sign. <br />POSTPONED <br />b. Resolution to Recognize Bob Hall <br />The Board considered a resolution recognizing Bab Hall far his volunteer work in Orange <br />County and his active role in campaign finance reform across the State of North Carolina. <br />Chair Jacobs read this resolution. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Gordan, seconded by Commissioner Halkiotis to <br />approve a resolution recognizing Bob Hall for his volunteer work in Orange County and his <br />active role in campaign finance reform across the State of North Carolina. <br />RESOLUTION TO RECOGNIZE BOB HALL <br />FOR COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AND POLITICAL REFORM AND OVERSIGHT <br />WHEREAS, Bob Hall has served the citizens of Orange County and the State of North Carolina <br />through his political activism and volunteer efforts; and <br />WHEREAS, he was a civil rights activist during a time of social turmoil fighting racism on the <br />front lines; and <br />WHEREAS, Bab Hall was the founding editor of Southern Exposure magazine examining <br />culture and politics in the South; and <br />WHEREAS, he has served through appointment by the Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners on the Economic Development Commission, including serving as <br />Chair, the Jury Commission, and the Comprehensive Plan Land Use Committee; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, in the best progressive tradition of Orange County, Bob Hall has charged forward <br />as a crusader to transform campaign financing rules for candidates for public <br />office; and <br />WHEREAS, while serving as Executive Director and Research Director of Democracy North <br />Carolina, Bob Hall has focused an electoral reform and the pernicious influence of <br />money in politics; and <br />
