Approval of the Proposed Acquisition of Real Property iPenny Tract) from <br />the Triangle Land Conservancy <br />The Board considered approval of an agreement to acquire a 22.37-acre portion of the <br />Penny property located in Orange County from the Triangle Land Conservancy (TLC} for an <br />addition to the planned New Hope Preserve and instructing the County Attorney and staffs from <br />ERCD and Finance to schedule and complete a closing on the property expected to occur on or <br />before April 30, 2006. <br />Dave Stancil said that this is the next step towards the New Hope Preserve. This action <br />would confirm the County's participation in the acquisition of the property. It would be a <br />simultaneous closing, at which time TLC would commit property to Orange County. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner Halkiatis to <br />approve the contribution of funds toward the purchase by the Triangle Land Conservancy of <br />22.37 acres of land (Penny Tract) located west of Pickett Road; and accept the conveyance of <br />the deed to the 22.37 acres of land from the Triangle Land Conservancy; and instruct the <br />County Attorney and staffs from ERCD and Finance to schedule and complete a closing on the <br />property expected to occur on or before April 30, 2006. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />a. Proposed Memorandum of Understanding -Haw River Trail Corridor <br />The Board was to consider entering into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with <br />the State of North Carolina (Division of Environment and Natural Resources} (NCDENR) and <br />other local governments regarding planning for a Haw River Trail Corridor and authorize staff <br />from ERCD and Recreation and Parks to participate in the subsequent discussions and <br />planning efforts. <br />DEFERRED <br />d.
