<br /> Organizational Profile
<br /> The ArtsCenter(TAC) began as a single painting class in 1974 and has grown to meet
<br /> community interest and participation over the past 37 years. Today, TAC serves more than
<br /> 60,000 people annually through a variety of art classes, theater performances, concerts, summer
<br /> camps, after-school programs, school performances, arts in education residencies, a youth
<br /> performing arts program, gallery exhibitions, and other arts related workshops, festivals, and
<br /> events. TAC's impact is evidenced by its ability to carry out its mission. The ArtsCenter is a not-
<br /> for-profit arts based organization that serves as a nucleus from which creativity emanates. By
<br /> providing a broad spectrum of creative visual art experiences through exhibition, programming,
<br /> outreach and events we pledge to unite diverse audiences through a continuum of art that is both:
<br /> culturally rich, respective of long standing art traditions, and at the forefront of new trends, where
<br /> art, education and performance intersect. TAC is governed by a 13-member board of directors.
<br /> Current Programs and Services
<br /> The ArtsCenter is organized into five programmatic departments. These are briefly described
<br /> below. (Note: Youth Programs and the Youth Performing Arts Conservatory fall into the same
<br /> program category because they both cater to youth.)
<br /> Concerts.TAC presents 60 concerts, representing the spectrum of musical genres by local,
<br /> emerging, and nationally touring artists including Folk, Blues, Celtic, Latin, Rock, and Roll,
<br /> Zydeco, and Bluegrass.
<br /> Theatre. International theatre at its most local,ArtsCenter Stage showcases the work of
<br /> emerging and established artists hailing from next door to around the world. Featuring new works
<br /> and re-inventions of the classics, improvisation and storytelling, puppetry and musicals, theatre
<br /> for younger and older audiences,ArtsCenter Stage is community-oriented theatre with a
<br /> commitment to developing new artists and audiences.
<br /> ArtSchool.ArtSchool at TAC is Orange County's most comprehensive non-profit resource for
<br /> continuing education in the arts on a non-degree, community basis. The ArtSchool now offers
<br /> more than 400 classes in all artistic disciplines for all experience levels and ages, awards more
<br /> than 50 scholarships annually, and offers work-study opportunities.
<br /> Youth Programs, TAC has provided artistically excellent, age-appropriate and accessible arts
<br /> experiences to Triangle families for over 20 years. Currently, TAC offers the School Show Series,
<br /> the SuperFun Series, KidsCamp,AfterSchool Arts Immersion, and Arts in Education residencies
<br /> to area youth and families, reaching approximately 26,000 children in up to six counties. Youth
<br /> Arts Classes(YAC) include fine art classes for youth and workshops and camps year round in
<br /> acting, musical theatre dance, chorus, stage combat, radio drama, acting for the camera,
<br /> improvisation and more. YAC has worked in partnership with PlayMakers Repertory Company
<br /> and ArtsCenter Stage on annual productions.
<br /> Youth Performing Arts Conservatory(YPAC). TAC is home to the area's premiere performing
<br /> arts program for Triangle youth (grades 1-12). Started in the fall of 2005, YPAC offers classes,
<br /> workshops and camps year round in acting, musical theatre, stage combat, radio drama, on-
<br /> camera acting, improvisation, technical theater and more. YPAC serves over 200 children
<br /> annually from four counties. YPAC works in partnership with PlayMakers Repertory Company
