The ArtsCenter /0 By 10 in the Triangle 3 ' <br /> With ten full, albeit short, productions in /O8v /O. the festival exposes audiences toa variety of <br /> theatrical approaches. There are plays that make audiences laugh, that make audiences cry, that <br /> make audiences question; plays with artistic perspectives, political perspectives, socio-economic <br /> perspectives; plays that address age, gender, sexua|izy, ethnicity. family, love; plays with dancing and <br />! <br /> plays with singing. Such a diversity of theatrical styles, naturally appeals to diverse audiences. <br /> International theatre at its most local, The ArtsCenter annually sponsors four of the produced <br /> playwrights to come to the Triangle and engage in a cultural exchange that is so vital to our <br /> community. Every year, sold-out audiences interact with these playwrights at the ever-popular <br /> Playwrights Ga|u, atu|kbackwith p|ayvvrighto, actors and directors followed bva Wine & Meet the <br /> Artists Reception at The /\roCenter. (July |4' 2O|Z\' Az this event, audiences learn about the <br /> playwrights' and actors' creative processes, and become a part of that creative process themselves <br /> by suggesting ways that the playwrights can further develop their scripts. <br /> Furthermore, 10 By 10 is a forum for cross-collaborations between area artists. |nZD|2, /08" /0 <br /> is expanding to include ten directors as well ay the ten actors traditionally hired. Triangle theatre <br /> companies represented in /08v /Oin the IO| | productions include: P|aymakers Repertory <br /> Company, UNC`s Department ofCommunications Studies, Deep Dish Theatre Connpany, Burning <br /> Coal Theatre Company, Little Green Pig Theatrical Concern, Ghost& Spice Productions, The <br /> Distillery Theatre, Raleigh Ensemble P|uyery, Cary P|aymrm, and Transactors |nmprov. Mainstays of <br /> Triangle theatre will work alongside artists who are either new to the field orto the area; artistic <br /> directors and local college professors collaborate with graduate students and working actors. Such <br /> cross-collaborations are educational and inspiring to participating artists and demonstrate to <br /> audiences that area theatres are united in their mission to contribute tmTriangle culture and � <br /> conmmnunity. <br /> In order to make /0 By 10 in the Triangle possible, The ArtsCenter courteously asks the Orange <br /> County Arts Commission for a grant of $1,500 to help support the artists' fees. Specifically, the <br /> grant would cover the cost of paying the ten directors' stipends. These directors will be rehearsing <br /> in Orange County in four different locations throughout the month of June 2012. <br /> In its eleven years, 10 By 10 in the Triangle has become a tradition that Triangle audiences and <br /> theatre practitioners—and playwrights around the world—look forward to each year. A grant from <br /> the Orange County Arts Commission would be invaluable in maintaining The ArtsCenter as the <br /> largest employer of artists in Orange County, making this year's 10 By 10 in the Triangle a success, as <br /> well as laying the groundwork for continuing this important cultural event in years to come. <br />
