Kidzu Children's Museum 2012-2013 OCAC Application Narrative:Building Community Through Mosaic III <br /> Appendix A: Facilitator Biographies <br /> Jeannette Brossart is a professional mosaic artist from Durham,NC,who has worked with Kidzu in recent years.She <br /> has had several successful projects including the Town of Chapel Hill's Artist@ Work residency in 2009,a large scale <br /> public art recycled mosaic mural in Uptown Charlotte,sculptural mosaics selected for exhibit in various locations around <br /> the state,and workshops for children and adults mostly at John C.Campbell Folk School and the Scrap Exchange.Ms. <br /> Brossart has demonstrated knowledge and skills for creating mosaics,and has the enthusiasm and desire to share her <br /> interest with others.Her art often utilizes recycled or repurposed materials and innovative methods to showcase the <br /> medium.She was recently accepted into the CAPS program,a Creative Arts in Public/Private Schools pre-screened and <br /> selected roster of artists approved for working with children in the community.Ms.Brossart continues to look for <br /> opportunities to learn and grow in her art and has had some key learning experiences this year,including a workshop <br /> with an internationally known,community-based mosaic muralist and a course at The Mosaic School in Ravenna,Italy. <br /> She is delighted at the prospect of continuing to facilitate mosaic programming with Kidzu. <br /> Melanie Hatz Levinson,Curator of Exhibits,joined Kidzu Children's Museum in 2007 to oversee the development of <br /> Kidzu's first original exhibit,"KidZoom:The Power of Creativity."She now maintains KidZoom as a"living exhibit" <br /> and also organizes and facilitates partnership programs,particularly arts-based programs,both within the museum and <br /> thoughout the community.Ms.Hatz Levinson is now co-directing the master planning process for our new facility.She <br /> is an art historian by training.Before moving to the Triangle Area,she spent 10 years as a curator at the Metropolitan <br /> Museum of Art in New York City.Ms.Hatz Levinson has also worked as an arts educator and consultant with <br /> Metropolitan Moms,a museum-based educational program for young children and families in New York City.She holds <br /> a BA in Art History from the University of Michigan and two Masters'Degrees in Art History,from Columbia <br /> University and from New York University's Institute of Fine Arts,respectively. <br /> Please see enclosed resumes for more details about these team members. <br /> 6 <br />
