WHEREAS, Orange County recognizes and values the opportunity to collaborate with the Town <br />of Carrbora toward the development of branch library services as desired within its corporate <br />limits to enhance the library facilities, services and opportunities available in Carrboro; and <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Carrbora along with the County recognizes the vital rate that libraries <br />play in the lives of our residents and our communities, providing resources far lifelong learning, <br />an outlet for recreational reading, a bridge across the digital divide, a slate of cultural programs <br />for all ages, and a community center for all to use; and <br />WHEREAS, the Library Services Task Farce, with the active participation of Carrboro elected <br />officials, recommended the siting of a branch library in downtown Carrbora where it would be <br />accessible to transit and other amenities; <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of Orange County, <br />North Carolina, does hereby call upon the Town of Carrboro to affirm its commitment to a free- <br />standing branch library in its midst by agreeing to establish a 50150 financial partnership with <br />the County to provide the capital funding far the implementation of this important public purpose. <br />This is the 15t" day of November, 2005. <br />RESOLUTION CALLING UPON THE TOWN OF HILLSBOROUGH <br />TO PARTNER FIFTYIFIFTY FINANCIALLY WITH THE HYCONEECHEE REGIONAL <br />LIBRARY SYSTEM AND COUNTY IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF AFREE-STANDING <br />BRANCH LIBRARY <br />IN ITS DOWNTOWN AREA <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Orange County, North Carolina is dedicated to <br />providing comprehensive library services to all County residents, in both urban and rural areas; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Orange County recognizes and values the opportunity to collaborate with the Tawn <br />of Hillsborough toward the development of branch library services as desired within its corporate <br />limits to augment the services and opportunities available at the central library in Hillsborough; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Hillsborough along with the County recognizes the vital role that <br />libraries play in the lives of our residents and our communities, providing resources far lifelong <br />learning, an outlet for recreational reading, a bridge across the digital divide, a slate of cultural <br />programs for all ages, and a community center for all to use; <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of Orange County, <br />North Carolina does hereby call upon the Tawn of Hillsborough to affirm its commitment to a <br />free-standing branch library in its midst by agreeing to establish a 50150 financial partnership <br />with the County to provide the capital funding far the implementation of this important public <br />purpose. <br />This is the 15t" day of November, 2005. <br />
