v <br /> Narrative Page <br /> Orange County Artists Guild <br /> Grant Proposal to the Orange County Arts Commission <br /> May 2012 <br /> Organizational Profile <br /> The Orange County Artists Guild (OCAG) is a non-profit organization of artists promoting <br /> artists,which seeks to increase the quality,visibility and recognition of Orange County art. The <br /> Guild also works to familiarize the community with the rich culture of art that exists in Orange <br /> County. <br /> OCAG was established in 2001 with the support of the Orange County Arts Commission's <br /> (OCAC)Arts Incubation Program. With this three-year award,the Guild has become an <br /> independent entity,with 501(C) (3)status from the IRS and is operated by members who <br /> volunteer their time and expertise. Members elected to the Board of Directors manage OCAG. <br /> Guild activities and events are organized and run by the membership. The Guild has no paid <br /> staff. There are currently 128 members in the guild with approximately 70 members opening <br /> their studios to the public each year. <br /> Current Programs and Services <br /> The Orange County Artists Guild (OCAG): <br /> • Conducts the annual Orange County Open Studio Tour the first two weekends in <br /> November <br /> • Maintains a list of member artists and their studios in Orange County <br /> • Provides a website to promote OCAG and members' artwork with contact information <br /> for an artist liaison to respond to queries about the guild and its artists from members of <br /> the public <br /> • Maintains an organizational Facebook page publicizing members' events and recent <br /> artwork in a regularly updated dynamic format <br /> Maintains an organizational blog with articles written by members about artistic process <br /> and inspiration,and maintains a publicly accessible calendar of members events <br /> • Hosts quarterly meetings with educational speakers <br /> • Coordinates forums and workshops for members on art related topics <br /> • Coordinates self led artist interest and learning groups <br /> • Hosts an annual information booth at Festifall with art demonstrations <br /> Proposed Uses of Grant Funds <br /> OCAG juries in high quality artists of all socioeconomic levels who reside in Orange County. <br /> Individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to apply for membership. <br /> OCAG's goals are to bring more tourism to Orange County,to increase economic opportunities <br /> to participating artists and to familiarize the community with local art by heightening the <br /> visibility and awareness of the Studio Tour. The most effective way to meet these goals is to <br /> have a professionally designed studio tour brochure with information about the tour and <br /> participating artists. The grant money will be used to help cover the costs of hiring a <br />
