Braima Moiwai, The Lion Story, page 3
There once lived an old lion long ago when the land was a single
piece with one ocean, one mountain, and all the animals spoke one
language. Old Lion was the strongest animal on land and feared by rMhy.
He ruled the kingdom where the rainforest converged with the Guinea
savannah in West Africa. No humans dared to dwell or hunt ire this vast
piece of land. Old Lion was the only hunter, the only carnivore living among
vegetarians. Whenever he felt hungry, he hunted the other animals. They
lived in constant fear of him, especially when they went down to the one
river that ran through the land, their only drinking place.
When Old Lion roared, his fierce voice traveled for miles, and all who
heard him ran into holes, climbed up trees for cover, or scattered in the
opposite direction. They crouched, gasping for air, hoping they weren't next
on his prey list.
