The students enjoyed mothering them and <br /> Center petting them all week and they left for their new farm home on Thursday. Thanks to all our guests for coming to <br /> Contact Mrs. Cohn see our Keynote presentations. We hoped you learned a thing or two about extreme weather. We are working <br /> on a nutrition unit,writing paragraphs in writer's workshop,reviewing all math objectives,creating book <br /> Newsletters recommendations in reading,and beginning a unit on Sound in science. We'll have a busy four weeks ahead! <br /> Insects On Board We have our Eno River field trip on Friday. We will be doing an activity on life cycles of insects and will be <br /> walking in the woods. Students may want to wear long pants and/or big spray for protection against ticks. <br /> Please pack a disposable lunch for our picnic. We will leave around 9:00 am and return after lunch. <br /> If your child has a May birthday and you wish to send a birthday treat,we will celebrate on the last Friday of the <br /> month:Friday May 25 at 1:30 pm. If your child has a summer birthday and you would like to send in a treat to <br /> celebrate,we will have our summer birthday celebration on Wednesday,June 6 at 1:30 pm. <br /> Next Monday a librarian from the Chapel Hill Library will speak to the Gass about the summer reading program. <br /> They will hold this annual program that encourages and rewards students for reading throughout the summer. <br /> This is one fun way to get your child,especially reluctant readers,to read this summer. Along those lines,I will <br /> send home one more book order this week. The Scholastic book prices are hard to beat;if you wish to order, <br /> please return the order form and checks made out to"Scholastic"by Wednesday May 23. <br /> Wednesday June 6 is scheduled to be Fun Day for second and third grades. On this day the students rotate <br /> through activities such as relay races or team games. It is held outdoors and often includes an activity or two <br /> where the students get a bit wet(such as in a wet sponge relay race),so students might want a change of <br /> clothing that day. Be sure they wear sneakers or shoes that allow running and climbing. Hats and sunscreen <br /> are also recommended. <br /> Thank you to all for the sweet expressions of love and support that we got last week for teacher appreciation <br /> week. We thank you for the time and effort and generous gifts to show your support of us.
