8. Population Served (grade level/s, number of students): <br /> "At-Risk" 9-12 high school students, 40-50 students <br /> 9. Curriculum area or disciplines the project covers: <br /> The arts workshops will take place in the English classroom. Working closely with the Sacrificial <br /> Poets, students at Phoenix Academy will continue their study of poetry as performance art. <br /> Additionally, traditional concepts taught in the English classroom will be reinforced through the <br /> workshop series. This project also aims to improve students' reading and writing skills. <br /> Integrating the arts program will increase student interest and engagement, which in turn, will <br /> encourage students to write about their experience. <br /> 10. Total cost of project: $1,000-1,500 <br /> 11. Amount requested from Chapel Hill-Carrboro Public School Foundation: $1,500 <br /> 12. Will you accept partial funding? Yes If not, please explain: <br /> 13. Minimum amount needed from the Foundation for the successful implementation of the <br /> project: $1,000 for one series of arts workshops <br /> 14. Other sources of funding and amounts: The program is not receiving additional funding at <br /> this time. The Phoenix Academy Arts Program remains dedicated to finding funds for these vital <br /> workshops and experiences for our students. <br /> 15.
