Arts Program Application Narrative <br /> Organizational Profile- Mission and History <br /> FRANK gallery is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization operated by the volunteer <br /> effort of the Member Artists of the Franklin Street Arts Collective,its staff, and the <br /> support of community leaders and art lovers. <br /> The mission of the Franklin Street Arts Collective is to support the arts <br /> community of Chapel Hill and the region, strengthen community appreciation of the arts <br /> through educational outreach, and promote the Town of Chapel Hill and North Carolina <br /> as a major Arts Destination. See supplementary page on Background. <br /> Our programs and services <br /> The FRANK Gallery <br /> Our Franklin Street gallery showcases the finest artists in the region with painting,fiber <br /> arts, photography,jewelry, sculpture,and woodcrafts. Many of our artists are nationally <br /> recognized and contribute a rich diversity of artistic vision and skills through our <br /> organization. Themed Exhibitions designed by the members(6 per year)focus attention <br /> to specific ideas and techniques and reach out to regional and major national guests <br /> artists. Featured Artist Spotlight Exhibitions showcase the work of member artists once <br /> every 2 years. Community Exhibitions showcase work from Orange County artists. <br /> Programs, Outreach,and Education,the Non-Profit Arm of FRANK <br /> In keeping with our educational mission to extend appreciation of the arts through the <br /> non-profit arm of our gallery, FRANK offers workshops, salons,and innovative and <br /> inclusive community outreach activities for sharing of ideas and inspiration through <br /> forming partnerships between a diverse population of artists and our community. <br /> Artist Salons <br /> Thursday evening Artist Salons bring together our artists,our community resources, and <br /> the public to provide opportunities for educational enrichment with a diversity of <br /> presenters and participants. Our own member artists and consigners share their work and <br /> methods. Guest artists read original poetry, perform readings of plays,entertain and <br /> experiment with new music,and foster community and dialogue.These salon nights have <br /> been well received with 20-60 participants per salon approximating 50 each year. <br /> Communing Wall <br /> Our Community Wall showcases a diversity of artists and community non-profit health <br /> and educational oriented programs. FRANK?s Community Wall has exhibited seniors <br /> from the Chapel Hill Senior Center;children from McDougle Middle School and the <br /> Kidzu museum;and the Stories Through Murals Project,Dominican painters using art to <br /> build bridges between nations. <br />
