WHEREAS, in the professional opinion of his former Orange High School Principal, Stephen H <br />Halkiotis, Tommy D. Leonard had achieved the status of Master Teacher long before NCDPI <br />attempted to define the concept; <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of County <br />Commissioners recognizes the valuable contributions made to students of the Orange County <br />Schools by Tommy D. Leonard and that his presence in Orange County since 1957 made it a <br />better place far all citizens for many years to come and thanks him for sharing his life in such a <br />positive and productive manner for the betterment of all people. <br />This the 7t" day of June, 2005. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Halkiotis, seconded by Commissioner Jacobs to <br />approve the resolution honoring Mr. Tommy D. Leonard. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />Tommy Leonard said that he is honored to receive this. He said that the two most <br />important decisions he ever made in his life was selecting his wife and deciding to live and work <br />in Orange County. <br />8. Items for Decision--Consent Agenda <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Foushee to <br />approve those items on the Consent Agenda as stated below: <br />a. Minutes <br />The Board approved the minutes from meetings on April 19, 20, and 26 as submitted by <br />the Clerk to the Board. <br />b. Appointments <br />{1) Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee -Reappointments <br />The Board reappointed Ann Chamberlin and Laurin Easthorn to first full terms expiring June <br />3Q, 2QQ$. <br />{2) Board of Social Services -One Reappointment <br />The Board reappointed Rosetta Wash to a second full term expiring June 30, 2008. <br />{3) Economic Development Commission -Reappointments <br />The Board reappointed Winkie LaForce to a first full term expiring June 30, 2Q08 and Ruffin <br />Slater to a second full term expiring June 30, 20Q8. <br />(4) Nursing Hame Community Advisory Committee -One Reappointment <br />The Board reappointed Mario Battigelli to a second full term expiring June 30, 2008. <br />{5) Personnel Hearing Board -One Reappointment <br />The Board reappointed Susan Lyons to a second term expiring June 3Q, 2008. <br />{6} Chapel Hill Public Library -One Reappointment <br />The Board reappointed Evelyn Daniel to a term expiring June 30, 2009. <br />c. Property Tax Refunds <br />The Board adopted a refund resolution, which is incorporated by reference, related to <br />three (3) requests for property tax refund in accordance with N.C.
