In this capacity,work with elected officials <br /> including state legislators as well as other key officials in state government to present <br /> possible legislation to help our mission. <br /> As chair of the NC Emergency Management Association Legislative Committee, work <br /> includes being the voice of NC Emergency Managers to the State and Federal <br /> Legislative bodies. Work has required travel to Washington DC in order to meet with <br /> Congressional delegates,personally involving them in the workings of our profession. <br /> Asst. Emergency Management Coordinator, Davidson County Emergency Services 2004-2007 <br /> Davidson County, Lexington, NC <br /> Assisted Emergency Services Director in developing and overseeing the coordination of <br /> a comprehensive emergency preparedness program for the county of Davidson that <br /> included elements of mitigation,preparation, response and recovery. Work involved <br /> preparing disaster, resource and mitigation plans as well as preparing reports for the <br /> purpose of minimizing or preventing damages to person and property during emergency <br /> events. Position acted as a liaison for Davidson County Emergency Services with other <br /> government agencies, local officials and emergency response agencies. Grant writing <br /> and administration of grants was a major responsibility of the position.
