Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Orange County Board of Commissioners, does hereby <br />proclaim April 10 - 16, 2005 as National County Government in Orange County, North Carolina. <br />This, the 15t" day of March 2005. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Halkiatis to <br />proclaim the week of April 10-16, 2005 as Orange County Government Week and endorse the <br />"Official for a Day" activities and authorize the chair to sign. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />f. Orange County Senior Games <br />The Board considered a proclamation to recognize the weeks of April 3 through 28, 2005 <br />as Athletic Events Days and June 6 through July 28, 2005 as SilverArts Days, a part of Orange <br />County Senior Games and to encourage citizens age 55 and over to participate, and authorizing <br />the Chair to sign. <br />Senior Games Ambassador Doris Murrell read the proclamation. She had copies of <br />senior games registration forms. <br />PROCLAMATION <br />Orange County Senior Games <br />Whereas, According to recent population figures, there are more than 18,734 persons over 55 <br />years of age in Orange County; and, <br />Whereas, Orange County is concerned about the health, fitness, and social well-being of its <br />mature adult population; and, <br />Whereas, Orange County Senior Games provides a special opportunity far mature adults to <br />grow positively in the areas of health, fitness and social well-being; and, <br />Whereas, Orange County would like to encourage local businesses and resident support and <br />participation from county residents age 55 and older; <br />NOW, BE IT THEREFORE PROCLAIMED, that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />declare April 3 through 28, 2005 as Athletic Events Days and June 6 through July <br />28, 2005 as SilverArts Days, a part of <br />ORANGE COUNTY SENIOR GAMES <br />AND ENCOURAGES CITIZENS AGE 55 AND OVER TO PARTICIPATE. <br />This, the 1St" day of March, 2005. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Halkiotis, seconded by Commissioner Gordan to <br />recognize the weeks of April 3 through 28, 2005 as Athletic Events Days and June 6 through <br />July 28, 2005 as SilverArts Days, a part of Orange County Senior Games and to encourage <br />citizens age 55 and over to participate, and authorize the Chair to sign. <br />VOTE UNANIMOUS <br />
