A&T State University. I hold a <br /> Ph.D. in Social and Intellectual History and have been a teacher, author (two books) and <br /> editor of history. Most recently, I have edited 6 volumes of the Hillsborough Historical <br /> Society Journal, and I have been involved in numerous Orange County historical <br /> activities. I believe that my background as a grants writer, author, and teacher of local <br /> and North Carolina history will be of assistance to a cause that is very important to me. <br /> Volunteer Experience: <br /> I have been active as a volunteer at my church (Archives Committee at St. Matthews <br /> Episcopal Church), as a member of Friends of the Orange County Library, and I have <br /> served as former President of the Hillsborough Historical Society and the North Carolina <br /> Association of Historians. I have also been a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and the <br /> Heart Walk of Wake County. I was also a candidate for the Orange County School <br /> Board. <br /> Education: <br /> I received my master's degree at the University of Wyoming as a William Robertson Coe <br /> Fellow in American Studies, and my doctorate in 1972 from the University of Maine.
