APPROVED 9/9/2004 MINUTES <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEEETING <br />JUNE 8, 2004 <br />7:30 p.m. <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met for regular session on Tuesday, June 8, 20Q4 <br />at 7:30 p.m. at the F. Gordon Battle Courtroom in Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Barry Jacobs and Commissioners <br />Margaret Brown, Moses Carey, Jr., Alice M. Gordon, Stephen Halkiotis <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br />COUNTY ATTORNEY PRESENT: Geoffrey Gledhill, Sean Barhanian <br />COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager John M. Link, Jr., Assistant County <br />Managers Rod Visser and Gwen Harvey and Clerk to the Board Donna S. Baker (All other staff <br />members will be identified appropriately below) <br />NOTE: ALL DOCUMENTS REFERRED TO IN THESE MINUTES ARE IN THE <br />PERMANENT AGENDA FILE IN THE CLERK'S OFFICE. <br />1. Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br />Chair Jacobs reviewed the information at the County Commissioners' places: <br />- Lavender sheet -updated information on the membership raster for item 5-b <br />- Yellow sheet -additional application for the Hillsborough Planning Board {item 9-d-1) <br />- Orange sheet -item 5-c regarding Cybrary <br />- Two items are to be pulled -items 5-z and 9-b <br />John Link said that they met with the Chair and Vice-Chair, the Chapel Hill Mayor, and <br />two council members from the Chapel Hill Town Board, and heard their ideas and suggestions <br />for how they would suggest the County approach the reuse/recycling fee for next year. The <br />staff will bring the Board some alternatives or additional scenarios to consider on June 17tH <br />This is why the items are being pulled. <br />Commissioner Brown said that they made a lot of progress when they met with Chapel <br />Hill officials and she understood what they wanted. <br />Commissioner Carey asked if Carrboro was there and Chair Jacobs said no but a copy <br />of the letter from the Town of Carrboro was faxed to Chapel Hill. <br />Commissioner Carey asked about the issues raised by Chapel Hill. Chair Jacobs said <br />that Carrboro's concerns were related to the structure of whether it was a tax or a fee and <br />Chapel Hill's were related to the additional reduction of waste. <br />PUBLIC CHARGE <br />
