The County's 2000 -2010 Capital Investment Plan (CIP) included matching funds of $32,239
to purchase Orange Public Transportation. (OPT) vehicles in the current fiscal year. This
match equates to 10 percent of the total cost of the vehicles with the remaining funds
($290,156) to come from the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The approved
vehicles include a 20- passenger bus with a lift, four 24- passenger mini -buses with lifts, a
center aisle van and a wheelchair van. This amendment provides a budget for the receipt of
the State funds (see Attachment 1, Equipment and Vehicles Capital Project Ordinance).
Public Safety
2. On January 18,,2001, the Orange County Board of County Commissioners approved the
receipt of a $380,100 Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) grant award from the North
Carolina Department of Crime Control and Public Safety. This grant provides funding to
assist two homeowners whose properties sustained substantial damage during Hurricane
Floyd and related heavy rainfalls during September 1999. No additional County funds are
required for the receipt of this grant. The attached Hazard Mitigation Grant Project
Ordinance (Attachment 2 of this abstract) provides for the receipt of this grant.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Financial impacts are included in the background information above.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board of County
Commissioners adopt the attached capital and grant project ordinances.
