The Alternatives <br />Analysis (AA), completed in 2011, focused on a set of needs and alternative actions to address <br />these needs, and generated information needed to select an option for further engineering <br />and implementation. In February 2012, the DCHC MPO selected a 17.3 -mile light rail corridor <br />from East Durham to UNC Hospitals as the locally preferred alternative (LPA). Triangle <br />Transit, as the local project sponsor, will submit to FTA the New Starts project justification <br />and local financial commitment and request FTA's approval to enter into the preliminary <br />engineering (PE) phase of project development. <br />5/23/2012 - Page 127 <br />
