The Draft Orange County/Triangle Transit Implementing Agreement (Attachment 2) describes <br />how Triangle Transit will utilize the funds received through the % percent sales tax and other <br />revenue sources. Input from Triangle Transit legal counsel is pending. <br />The BOCC has already adopted a Durham /Orange Cost Share Agreement and a Do Not Levy <br />Agreement between Orange County and Triangle Transit that confirms that Triangle Transit will <br />not levy the '/ percent sales tax in Orange County until certain conditions have been met if and <br />when an associated referendum is approved by Orange County voters. <br />A public hearing will be conducted at this same meeting as a separate agenda item to collect <br />any input the public may have to offer to the BOCC prior to its decision whether or not to place <br />the 'h percent sales tax referendum on the November 2012 ballot. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None at this time. The Bus and Rail Investment Plan in Orange County <br />includes information on future commitments. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: The Manager recommends that the Board: <br />1) Consider and take appropriate action on the Orange County Transit Plan; and <br />2) Consider and take appropriate action on the Orange County/Triangle Transit <br />Implementing Agreement, and if approved, authorize the Chair to sign the <br />Agreement. <br />
