Orange CountylTown of Hillsborough Urban Transition Area Task Force
The Board considered approval of a resolution creating a Joint Orange CountylTown of
Hillsborough Urban Transition Area Task Force and appointing two County Commissioners and
one Planning Board member to serve on the Task Force.
Craig Benedict said that this item deals with the creation of a joint task force between
the Town of Hillsborough and the County. This was discussed at the March 22"d joint meeting.
This task force would address the planning in the fringe areas around Hillsborough that are
within Orange County's planning jurisdiction. The task force would consist of two Board of
County Commissioners, two Hillsborough Town Commissioners, a Planning Board member
from Orange County and the Town and alternates. They expect to move fast in addressing the
issues within a 3-4 month timeframe.
Chair Jacobs said that it should be clear that this would be jointly administered. He said
that it might be good to involve the recreation departments. Also, it might be good to invite
citizens to attend, even though they would not be active participants.
A motion was made by Commissioner Halkiotis, seconded by Commissioner Brown to
approve a resolution creating a Joint Orange County/Town of Hillsborough Urban Transition
Area Task Force and defer appointment of two County Commissioners and one Planning Board
member to serve on the Task Force and to solicit other participants such as recreation.
VOTE: UNANIMOUS
7.
