WHEREAS, Orange County is proud of the older adults who live here <br />and wishes to show appreciation for what they contributed to their County, State <br />and Nation; and, <br />WHEREAS, All Orange County citizens enjoy the fruits of alder persons and their labors and <br />are inspired to continue to make Orange County a goad place in which to live; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, The theme for Older Americans Month is "Aging Well, Living Well" to celebrate <br />and recognize older Americans who are living longer, healthier, and more <br />productive lives; and, <br />WHEREAS, Orange County also wishes to set aside a special month for <br />recognition of the older segment of its citizenry; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, We, the Orange County Board of Commissioners, join <br />the Governor of North Carolina and the President of the <br />United States in PROCLAIMING May, 2004 as <br />OLDER AMERICANS MONTH <br />AND, further, do encourage all citizens to join us in honoring our older Americans. <br />This the 4th day of May, 2004. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />c. Hurricane Awareness Week Proclamation <br />The Board considered designating the week of May 16 through May 22, 2004 as <br />Hurricane Awareness Week and encouraging residents to learn mare about severe weather <br />preparedness; and authorizing the Chair to sign. <br />Commissioner Carey read the proclamation. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Carey, seconded by Commissioner Halkiotis to <br />designate the week of May 16 through May 22, 2004 as Hurricane Awareness Week and <br />encourage residents to learn more about severe weather preparedness; and authorize the Chair <br />to sign the proclamation as stated below: <br />A PROCLAMATION <br />HURRICANE AWARENESS WEEK <br />May 16th through 22nd! 2Q04 <br />
