„I <br />STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA) <br />AGREEMENT <br />COUNTY OF ORANGE <br />THIS AGREEMENT is made and entered into this 1st day of May , 2012, <br />by and between The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, hereinafter referred to as <br />"the University,” for its Master of Public Administration Program, Institute of <br />Government, and Orange County, hereinafter referred to as "the Agency." <br />W I T N E S S E T H: <br />WHEREAS, the University requires as a part of the Master of Public <br />Administration Program that all degree candidates who have completed nine months of full- <br />time graduate work in public administration be assigned to a work experience with a unit <br />of government (or other appropriate Agency) as a part of the students' degree <br />requirements; and <br />WHEREAS, the parties desire to enter into a joint training program for <br />Master in Public Administration Degree candidates in which the MPA student will have full- <br />time professional supervised assignments within the Agency; and <br />WHEREAS, the Agency desires to provide the supervision and internship <br />experience which would enable MPA degree candidates to fulfill their degree requirements <br />NOW, THEREFORE, The University and the Agency have entered into this <br />Agreement and agree as follows: <br />1. MUTUAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE UNIVERSITY AND AGENCY <br />a. Both parties will jointly: Establish the educational objectives for <br />a professional training program, devise methods for their implementation, and continually <br />evaluate the effectiveness of the training experience. <br />b. Schedule at least one (1) joint conference to discuss progress of <br />the Program and changes or revisions desired in the agreement. <br />C. Agree that there shall be no unlawful discrimination in the Program <br />based upon race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, disability, veteran status, <br />or sexual orientation. <br />
