Clarion Associates <br />was retained to prepare an updated Master Plan for the City. The poten- <br />tial for disposal of some of these public lands for development was a key <br />issue under consideration, as was the protection of these lands as open <br />space. Other key issues included a desire to strengthen and diversify the <br />city's historic downtown core, diversification of housing options, preserva- <br />f I hb h h f <br />Hon o rura neig or oods, en ancement and redevelopment o under- - <br />developed commercial corridors, and the anticipation of future <br />development patterns along the Carson City Freeway, currently under con - <br />struction <br />Cumberland Region Tomorrow 2003 <br />Excellence Award <br />Franklin, Tennessee Land Use Plan <br />Franklin, Tennessee, located just south of Nashville, is a city that experi Adak <br />;FRANKLIN, TENNESSEE taria USE pLnt <br />enced rapid growth during the 1980s and 1990s, doubling its population <br />every decade. McBride Dale Clarion assisted the Franklin community in the <br />creation of an innovative land use plan that addresses quality of develop - <br />ment in conjunction with infrastructure availability in both the city and its <br />urban growth boundary. The necessity to maintain and enhance a strong <br />community identity and pride was the force that drove the direction and end <br />product of the plan. With many historical resources and an active citizenry,. <br />Franklin has the opportunity to expand on its already thriving community. <br />2002 APA Daniel Burnham Award <br />for Excellence in Planning <br />Will County, Illinois I Land Resources Management Plan <br />Clarion prepared a comprehensive land use plan for this fast growing outer <br />ring county adjacent to Chicago. The north part of Will County is rapidly <br />becoming urbanized with significant commercial and residential growth / WLLCMNW.1L1J1 <br />LAND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PLAN <br />while the south part of the county remains mostly agricultural and unde- <br />veloped. The plan addresses critical issues such as open space, trans - Ir <br />portation, and intergovernmental relationships between the county and its °� �� <br />many municipalities. The plan also has a strong implementation focus. <br />
