rolet 'E perrnce <br />Wake County, North Carolina ( Comprehensive <br />Growth Management Strategy <br />Clarion Associates led a multi - disciplinary team to create a compre- <br />hensive Growth Management Strategy for Wake County, North Car- <br />` olina, which has experienced significant and unprecedented economic <br />development and population growth since 1990. While this growth <br />Z has brought significant benefits, Wake County is bracing for at least <br />500,000 new residents anticipated to flow into the region over the next <br />= 20 years. In an innovative, intergovernmental approach, Clarion As- <br />sociates worked closely with a 42- member task force, consisting of rep - <br />u resentatives from the County, the school district and twelve <br />municipalities. The planning process, which was not legislatively man- <br />dated, focused on growth concerns in seven areas: community char- <br />acter, cost of growth, water /sewer, schools, transportation, open space, <br />and land development standards. <br />Beaufort County, South Carolina I Southern Re- <br />gional Plan <br />Clarion Associates, in association with Tischler Associates, developed <br />a regional plan for Southern Beaufort County, the fastest growing <br />county in South Carolina. In an innovative approach, Clarion Asso- <br />ciates worked with staff and representatives from the County, the Town <br />of 'Bluffton, the Town of Hilton Head Island, and key stakeholders from <br />the area.; This collaborative effort created along- lasting regional'co- <br />operation <br />L effort between the local municipalities and county govern- <br />So.Athern Beaufort mem, as well as focus specifically on t _evaluation' of four key <br />I coo ity Regional regional issues: land use, natural resources, transport ation, public fa- <br />ciliI es, and costs of growth. All local governments adopted the plan <br />in 2006 and are well into developing the 'mechanisms and growth <br />management tools to implement the Regional Plan. <br />Miami Beach, Florida I Development Impact <br />Mitigation System <br />Clarion Associates has been retained by the City of Miami Beach to <br />develop an impact mitigation strategy for major development projects <br />over 50,000 square feet in size.
