During the first half of this <br />fiscal year, the Department has received higher than normal requests to assist clients with utility <br />costs. Several factors, including unusually cold temperatures and high heating costs, have <br />contributed to the higher than average expenditures. This amendment provides for the <br />Contingency appropriation (see column #1 of Attachment 1 of this abstract). <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Financial impacts are included in the background information above. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board of County Commissioners <br />adopt the attached budget ordinance amendment. <br />
