Sportsplex FY2012 -13 Operating <br />Budget Detail <br />PURPOSE: For the Board to have an opportunity to review and discuss the Durham Technical <br />Community College, Orange County Schools and Chapel Hill - Carrboro City Schools Districts <br />FY2012 -13 Budgets, Sportsplex and County departmental budgets, including any fee schedule <br />change requests. <br />BACKGROUND: The County Manager released the FY2012 -13 recommended budget on May 15, <br />2012. Since that time, the Board would have conducted two public hearings to receive residents' <br />comments regarding the proposed funding plan. Tonight's work session is the first opportunity the <br />Board has had to discuss next year's proposed funding plan in regards to funding for Durham <br />Technical Community College, the School Districts, the Sportsplex, proposed fee schedule changes, <br />and begin discussion with County departments. The Manager attained the following Board directed <br />guidelines: <br />• County's operating budget was balanced without an increase in the property tax rate. The <br />current property tax rate is 85.8 cents per $100 assessed valuation. <br />• The funding provided to the local School Districts to fund day -to -day operations, fair funding, <br />repayment of school related debt, and capital totals $84.2 million which equals 47.16% of the <br />County's FY2012 -13 Recommended General Fund Budget. <br />• The total funding provided to the local School Districts to fund day -to -day operations, fair <br />funding, repayment of school related debt, capital and additional services (school health <br />
