NOW, THEREFORE, we the Orange County Board of Commissioners hereby proclaim the week of April 11- <br />17, 2004, as "National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week" in Orange County, North Carolina, in honor <br />and recognition of our County's Telecommunicatars and the vital contributions they make to the safety and <br />well being of our residents. <br />Adopted this 16th day of March 2004. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />c. County Government Week <br />The Board considered proclaiming the week of April 18 through 24, 2004 as Orange County <br />Government Week and endorsing the "Official for a Day" activities. <br />Director of Community Programs Sharron Hinton said that April 21St is the Official far a Day <br />program and high school students will spend time with directors and go through a mock Board of County <br />Commissioners' meeting. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Halkiotis ,seconded by Commissioner Gordon to approve <br />and authorize the Chair to sign the proclamation as stated below, proclaiming the week of April 18 through <br />24, 2004 as Orange County Government Week and endorsed the "Official for a Day" activities. <br />ORANGE COUNTY GOVERNMENT WEEK <br />April 18-24, 2004 <br />PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners and the National <br />Association of Counties have urged citizens across the state and the nation to learn <br />more about county government's role in our lives; and <br />WHEREAS, Counties provide public safety; offer health and human services; provide <br />opportunities for new businesses to prosper; and support jab training and <br />educational initiatives; and <br />WHEREAS, Counties provide many services that make America's communities stranger, <br />safer places to live and raise families; and <br />WHEREAS, County officials and employees use their role as local leaders to encourage <br />economic development and therefore improve the lives of their citizens and <br />make their communities more livable; and <br />WHEREAS, County governments are the citizen's local government voice, providing <br />solutions that bring communities together. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, we the Orange County Board of Commissioners da hereby proclaim the <br />week of April 18 through 24, 2004 as Orange County Government Week, and further encourage <br />all citizens to become familiar with the services provided by Orange County Government. <br />This, the 16th day of March 2004. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />
