Staff Note: Orange County Planning staff and Chair Bemadette Pelissier have identified <br />sections of the DRAFT Plan (Attachment 1) that will require further clarification and elaboration <br />consistent with previous BOCC discussions and direction. A subsequent draft is to be prepared <br />by Triangle Transit staff and delivered to the Board, under separate cover, prior to the meeting. <br />The Durham/Orange Cost Share Agreement (Attachment 2) records how the cost of elements <br />of the plan that cross the county boundary will be managed. <br />The Orange County/Triangle Transit Implementing Agreement (Attachment 3) describes how <br />Triangle Transit will utilize the funds received through the '/ cent sales tax and other revenue <br />sources. <br />The Do Not Levy Agreement (Attachment 4) is an agreement between Orange County and <br />Triangle Transit that confirms that Triangle Transit will not levy the '/ cent sales tax in Orange <br />County until certain conditions have been met if and when an associated referendum is <br />approved by Orange County voters. <br />Next Steps: <br />June 5, 2012: Public Hearing on the '/ cent sales tax and decision on 'h cent sales tax <br />referendum. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None at this time. The Durham/Orange Cost Share Agreement and the <br />OCTP both include information on future commitments. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: The Manager recommends that the Board: <br />1) Consider and take appropriate action on the Orange County Transit Plan; <br />2) Consider and take appropriate action on the Durham/Orange Cost Share <br />Agreement, and if approved, authorize the Chair to sign the Agreement; <br />3) Consider and take appropriate action on the Orange County/Triangle Transit <br />Implementing Agreement, and if approved, authorize the Chair to sign the <br />Agreement; and <br />4) Approve and authorize the Chair to sign the Do Not Levy Agreement. <br />
