Clifton, Jr., Manager, 245-2300 <br />David King, General Manager, Triangle <br />Transit, 485-7424 <br />Wib Gulley, General Counsel, Triangle <br />Transit, 485-7418 <br />PURPOSE: To consider adoption of the Orange County Transit Plan and approval of the three <br />attached agreements. <br />BACKGROUND: Staff from Triangle Transit (TT) will lead the Board through discussion and <br />consideration of the attachments. <br />At the May 3, 2012 Work Session, the Board reviewed the public input on The Orange County <br />Transit Plan (OCTP, also referred to as the Orange County Bus and Rail Investment Plan) <br />(Attachment 1) from the following events: <br />o Public hearing held on April 3, 2012 <br />o Public hearing on April 17, 2012 <br />o Open House at Extraordinary Ventures on April 23, 2012 <br />A second open house was held on April 30, 2012 at the West Campus office, but comments <br />were not available for the May 3 work session. The Board also received and discussed the <br />draft OCTP. <br />The OCTP will describe how Orange County plans to utilize revenue from the % cent sales tax, <br />if the Board establishes a referendum on the tax and if it is approved by Orange County voters, <br />in addition to how funds are spent from a possible $7.00 county tag fee, a$3.00 increase to the <br />current Triangle Transit tag fee, and triangle regional rental car fee revenues. The Plan <br />includes elements such as: <br />• Fixed guideway transit (Light Rail Transit) <br />o Orange County's transit partnership with Durham County <br />• Expanded or new bus service (local, rural and regional) <br />• Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. bus lanes <br />• Small capital transit facilities (park and ride lots, train stations) <br />
