Attachment 1 6 <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY BOARD POLICIES AND PROCEDURES <br />g. At some point in the future, a representative of Duke Universitv <br />preferably involved in development activities that may have an impact <br />on Orange County including support of university spin-off entities, may <br />be included. <br />2. A majority of inembers shall be residents of Orange County and shall maintain <br />their domicile in Orange County. Domicile is defined as one's permanent <br />established home as distinguished from one's temporary although actual <br />place of residence. The Clerk shall confirm the residency of applicants. <br />3. Members shall have a direct or indirect background in economic <br />development, and be actively involved in promoting business. Candidates <br />should either live in Orange County, have invested in Orange County, or have <br />a direct economic development interest in Orange County. <br />4. The Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of Commerce and the Chapel <br />Hill/Carrboro Chamber of Commerce shall assist the Orange County Economic <br />Develop staff to review, recruit and recommend potential candidates. <br />5. There shall be an Economic Development Working Group that will be <br />comprised of economic development professionals, such as economic <br />development practitioners from the municipalities of Orange County, the <br />University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Durham Technical Community <br />College. <br />a. This group will assist the Orange County Economic Development <br />department with special projects, on an 'as needed' basis. <br />b. Members of this group will be selected based on their skill set and the <br />special project to be addressed. <br />c. Selection of these group members will be by the Orange County <br />Economic Development department and/or appropriate members of <br />the Economic Development Advisory Board. <br />d. The working group will adhere to the same policies and procedures as <br />the Economic Development Advisory Board, with the exception of their <br />provisional nature. <br />SECTION IV. MEETINGS <br />A. Staffing <br />1. Orange County staff may serve a support function to advisory boards upon the <br />approval of the Orange County Manager. <br />B. Joint Meetings <br />1. The Economic Development Advisory Board may attend an annual meeting with <br />the Orange County Board of Commissioners to review and discuss its activities and <br />accomplishments. <br />Page 3 of 4 April 23, 2012 <br />
