Chair Jacobs said that the paint is that this is a maturing facility. The facility should be built <br />in a way that is environmentally sensitive and can be served by public transportation. <br />Commissioner Brown asked about the existing house and the trail system and pond. She <br />thinks that every year more of an investment should be put in far the maintenance of the house <br />so that it does not deteriorate. Also, the Board needs to decide if there will continue to be a <br />park piece connected with the pond. <br />Jahn Link said that Assistant County Manager Gwen Harvey was working on this. <br />Commissioner Brawn asked about the maintenance of this area and if Recreation and Parks <br />was maintaining it. Recreation and Parks Director Lari Taft said that they have adopted it and <br />during the spring season they will bring it back to the Board of County Commissioners. <br />Chair Jacobs suggested having the carpentry class from Orange High School to look at the <br />house and see what can be done. <br />Chair Jacobs said that as long as the Board is comfortable that this is going to move ahead, <br />he feels comfortable establishing an advisory board and explaining to them that the Board will <br />come up with a site. <br />Commissioner Gordan said that it would be hard to get very far without knowing where the <br />site was going to be. Chair Jacobs said that he was suggesting it so that the advisory board <br />could move forward. <br />John Link said that they do have a timeline. Pam Jones said that we are two months into <br />the six-month design format. John Link will bring information back to the Board by March 15tH <br />Commissioner Brown said that the architectural process should be a very open process. <br />She was told by a few people involved in senior centers that they had already picked out an <br />architect and asked her to support this. <br />Commissioner Halkiotis said that the final decision still rests with the Board. <br />Youth issues -deferred <br />7.
