<br />Roger Waldon is a Principal with Clarion Associates, with 34 years of experience as a professional
<br />planner. He served as Planning Director for the Town of Chapel Hill for 21 years, directing the Town's
<br />comprehensive planning and growth management functions. His work. has emphasized neighborhood
<br />conservation and growth management, including preparation of land use plans and special area plans,
<br />preparation and administration of design guidelines, transportation planning, annexation, capital
<br />improvements, housing and community development initiatives, and evaluation of development
<br />applications. Prior to his work for Chapel Hill, Mr. Waldon worked on regional initiatives as Director of
<br />Planning Programs for the Triangle J Council of Govemments, a regional planning organization based in
<br />the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina_ He has also served as an eleded official on the Chapel Hill-
<br />Carrboro Board of Education. Mr. Waldon is a frequent speoker at national planning conferences, and
<br />has lectured on planning topics at Universities in Massachusetts and North Carolina. His writing includes
<br />articles on planning processes and neighborhood conservation, and a book published by the American
<br />Planning Association, Planners and Politics. He is a contributor to the 2009 edition of ICMA's "Green
<br />Book," Loca! Planning: Contemporary Principles and Practice. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of
<br />Certified I~lanners, and recognized as one of the Top 25 Most Influential Planners in ~the 50 year history
<br />of planning in North Carolina.
