The redevelopment <br />will consist of 153,200 square feet of <br />medical office space, built in two <br />phases. The analysis incorporated <br />im.provements at an adjacent <br />intexsection of Calumet Drive that had <br />been a safetp concern for die City of <br />Raleigh and NCDOT. Additional off- <br />site i.mprovements included re-striping the Sunnpbrook Road approach at New Bern Avenue and <br />signal and electrical plans fox the intersection to accommodate these impxovements. A txaffic <br />signal is desired at the intersection of Suunybrook Road and the Main Enttance to accommodate <br />the site traffic, pedestrian traffic, and re-routed traffic from the improvements at the upstteam <br />Calumet Drive access restriction. Therefore, a signal warrant analysis v~as submitted to the Citp of <br />Raleigh and negotiations ate cutrently underwaq to incorporate the signal into the plans for the <br />WakeMed site. <br />Durham Public Schools Traffic Eng'ineering Services <br />Durham PublicSchools/ Durham, North Carolina <br />Ciient Reference: Tim Carr -(919) 560-2216 <br />Over the last eight pears, Durham Public <br />Schools (DPS7 has contracted with M/A/B to <br />provide traffic engineering services fot several <br />schooLs undergoing aew construction and <br />renovations. T'he type of work performed fox <br />the schools has included TLAs, traffic signal <br />designs, transportation ma.nagement plans, <br />pavement marking plans, sidewalk designs, and <br />traffic signal designs for WG Pearson <br />Elementary, Creekside Elementary, Hebron <br />Elementarp, Treyburn Middle, and Jotda.n <br />High SchooL These studies also coasisted <br />Traffic Engineering Services fox Schools <br />Numerous Schools acxoss North Carolina of a review of site layout, including close <br />coordination with the NCDOT Mutticipal and School Transportation Assistance Unit (MS"I'A) to <br />ensure propex internal stacking distances fof vehicles and a safe environment for pedestrians. The <br />traffic studies included a capacity analpsis of local streets and intersections utilizing <br />Synchro/SimTraffic to determine any eBisting and future roadwaq deficiencies with the <br />construction of the schooLs. Manp of the adjacent intersections required new signals or signal <br />upgrades inclucling steel poles and mast a~ms, pedestriaii heads a,nd pedestals, and revisions to the <br />signal riming and phasing. AlI of these projects involved dose coordination between the <br />NCDOT, the. Citp of Durham, and M/A/B.
